Michael:
Considering that The Next Iron Chef was filmed in April/May, you already know if you're the Next or not.
Either way, I'm glad we got to see you on a national level outside of your comfort zone. And I'm glad Ruhlman talked you into setting up a blog. If you have any problems, Ruhlman will probably send you to me and Bob DelGrosso. :-)

Go Michael!
I went into this thing rooting for Besh, but your humor, passion and skill have really impressed me.
Now I'm torn, not knowing who to root for!
At the least, you have won over much of the states and redeemed Cleveland, at the most you could be The Next Iron Chef!
Either way, you should be very very proud.

Hey Michael!
It was good to see you at the Fabulous Food Fair at the IX Center during your demonstration on Saturday. Hope to see that Brussel Sprout recipe soon and Good Luck with the Next Iron Chef. You have done Cleveland proud.

Good luck Michael! At least this is one competition Cleveland can still win! I'll be watching tomorrow night and rooting for you all the way! I already told everyone I will not be answering the phone between 9 and 10 tomorrow night. :)

Well, you invite the question. Youre encouraging people to come to Lola to watch.
Besh's site says nothing.
I suspect you've given me the answer...

Hey.
Cleveland is proud of you.
I'm proud to know you.
I think you got hosed when you went up against asparagus.
Good for you.
Cream rises to the top.
Rock on.

Way to go, Michael! I predict a win for the Browns and a win for Symon. Love your food & your style!

Glad to see you're starting a blog. We all have our fingers crossed for tonight!

Oh, wow. Chef Symon, I'm SOOOOO HAPPY to learn that you'll be blogging. Thank you, thank you, you!
It's Superbowl Sunday, and I'm pulling for you to take it home tonight. I can hardly sit still today....so I'm gonna to cook.
Along with planning how I can manage a trip to Cleveland for dinner at Lola and Lolita.
Go get 'im!

Let's see now: two restaurants (more in the works???), seven-day work week, charity events, Promotional appearances, magazine and radio interviews... Guess you'll be blogging in your spare time!
JoP is right about Superbowl Sunday. I was telling my coworkers that there's a huge competition this weekend, and it's not the Pittsburgh game. Can't wait for tonight's NIC finale.

If not iron, then definitely platinum, if not plutonium. But why not all three?

I saw you at the Fabulous Food Show making your "bacon and brussels sprouts" recipe Saturday Nov 10. I was impressed with the recipe, but I have to say it was more exciting just to see you there! We need more of you on Food Network!
You have done Cleveland proud. I think you have opened the door for other Cleveland residents and restaurants to get excited about food again. Perhaps this will mark a new era in Cleveland dining.

Symon . . . the man I want to be.
Posted by:Big Andy | November 11, 2007 at 11:14 AM
The countdown is on. Literally. On our TV screens. Made me laugh when I saw it this morning.
ICA needs you Chef Symon! As I like to say, you're a powerhouse of goodness. :)

Thanks for all the publicity you have brought to our city. The competition is already over and I have no idea if you won, but I thought you did fantastic. Thanks for putting the Cleveland restaurant scene on the map. Go Eagles.

Can someone post the recipe for the bacon and brussels sprouts? I am looking for a new way to do them as we plan to have them for Thanksgiving and this sounds right up my alley.
Posted by:rockandroller | November 11, 2007 at 01:28 PM
Michael, you're fabulous, and your restaurants are gorgeous, but I have to root for the other guy.
But only because you could beat Bobby Flay with a skillet until he gave you his spot! And then everybody wins!
(Except Flay, but he's a jerk and should never have been an Iron Chef after how he disrespected the REAL chairmen all those years ago.)
Posted by:Amy | November 11, 2007 at 01:30 PM
Amy:
While a lot of us would agree with your that Flay's behavior during his appearances on the original Iron Chef, I think that in the intervening years he has developed a maturity and stopped being so uptight. Just watching him on ICA has shown him to have a much better sense of humor and graciousness he didn't have before.
And if you've ever seen him on the Throwdown episodes, you'd see that he loses a great deal of the time and takes his losses with good nature and humor.
